Goalkeeper Alisson’s Dramatic 95th-Minute Goal Rescues Liverpool
Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, netted a crucial stoppage-time goal to seal a 2-1 victory against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, 16 May, at Anfield.
The Reds found themselves in danger as the game entered into injury time at 1-1, with Liverpool desperately needing a win for the top-four Premier League race.
Liverpool was awarded a corner in the 95th-minute of the game, and to the surprise of many, Becker left his goal post to offer his team assistance in the opposite penalty area.
And then, to the shock and delight of Liverpool fans, the Brazilian international planted a header into the back of the net..
Becker made history – as no Liverpool goalkeeper has scored a goal in any competitive game in the club’s 129-year history.
He left his manager, Jurgen Klopp, shocked and speechless in the technical area, something Klopp expressed during his post-match interview.
Klopp said: “Unbelievable. I’ve never seen something like that. Insane technique!”
The goalkeeper dedicated the goal to his late father, who passed away in February 2021.
